Andrew Neish
Bio

Andrew Neish graduated with his bachelor’s in mechanical and aerospace engineering from UC Davis in 2014 and went on to complete his master’s and PhD in aeronautics and astronautics at Stanford University in 2020. At Stanford he was a member of the GPS Lab under the direction of Professors Per Enge, J. David Powell, and Todd Walter and developed methods of protecting aviation’s use of satellite based GNSS augmentation systems through methods in cryptography and data authentication. During this process he had the opportunity to work with members of the FAA, European Commission, and ICAO and the methods developed in his thesis are being considered for adoption by GNSS augmentation systems worldwide. After graduation, he and several of his colleagues founded the company Xona Space Systems with the aim of providing the world’s first commercial satellite navigation service through a constellation of Low Earth Orbiting satellites. At Xona, he is the Signals and Security Lead and works in a team to develop signals that will provide better accuracy, robustness to jamming, and protection from spoofing to GNSS receivers around the globe.
