Alan Carey is a structural designer on the New Shepard program at Blue Origin. He is responsible for structural design of the Crew Capsule forward structure, and he is a subject matter expert in aerospace fasteners. Alan received his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from RPI in 2012; his focus was on spacecraft design. He also worked at the Center for Flow Physics and Control at RPI for 3 years designing and fabricating wind tunnel models. Between undergraduate and graduate programs, he was an intern at NASA GSFC working on finite element analysis approached for JWST ISIM structure composite joints and at NASA JSC investigating Z-1 space suit shoulder mobility. His hobbies include woodworking and hiking.
